Sentence of imprisonment for life is modified into one for 10 years R.I.—
Convict-petitioner did not prefer appeal against the conviction and sentence within the statutory period of limitation. Thereafter he filed an application under section 561A Cr.P.C. for quashment of the conviction and sentence which was rejected. Appellate Division while disposing of the petition for leave to appeal modified the sentence of imprisonment for life into one for rigorous imprisonment for 10(ten) years.
